Don’t get caught out by frost and cold nights in the coming weeks.
The forecast warm weather will encourage plants to put on a growth spurt. These shoots will be extremely vulnerable to ANY FROST.
Check Accuweather for night temperatures in your area and cover any vulnerable shooting plants with Horticultural Fleece.
If its going to be 4˚C (39˚F) or less don’t take the risk!
Particular care should be shown to Pieris and Acer plants, the new shoots will be very tender and a snap frost can really set them back.
Also keep an eye out for vulnerable perennials like Paeony (Peony) shoots.
If you have a Banana Plant wrapped up, now is not the time to unwrap it, wait a little longer.
