Garden Design Process

“Gardens are extensions of the home, and their need to be multifunctional is at the forefront of our garden design ethos.”

Concept

After the initial free consultation, we take a survey of your garden and from these create your bespoke 3D concept. This 3D animation is a visualisation of your new garden as you’d like it to be.

All our concepts are drawn to scale, we make sure of this using the measurements gathered during the thorough survey of your garden.

We take note of the utilities, access and aspect, this helps us highlight not only the sunny and shady spots, but also any potential obstacles to construction later on.

Today’s gardens are often used for relaxation and entertainment as well as children’s play areas.

A well designed garden can add significant value to your home.

Design Drawings

Each of our garden designs comes with a set of construction drawings (blueprints) for the contractors to follow.

Hard landscaping is what we call anything which is not a plant, this includes walls, patios, decking, paths, structures (pergolas, arches, etc) fencing and more.

These are the scaled construction drawings for each part of the garden. Depending on the complexity, some designs require more than one of these ‘blueprints’ for different sections of the garden.

These drawings are used by landscapers and contractors to ensure the design is followed accurately.

Lighting and Electrical Plans

These plans show the desired position of lights and power sources within the garden, they are used by electricians as a guide for installation in compliance with UK Building Regulations.

We tailor each of our planting plans to you and your garden, and take into account not only the aspect (N,E,S,W) and growing conditions within your garden, but also your lifestyle and commitment to the maintenance as set out in the initial consultation.

We use all these factors to tailor the green spaces in your new garden to your level of interest, ensuring that the plants will thrive and you will enjoy them for years to come.

Our clearly labeled planting plans use botanical names to make identification easy.

As well as making sure the plants are happy, we take into account younger members of the family including the furry ones.

We makes sure all our plants are compatible and robust enough to cope with the rigours of life in your garden.

With this in mind, we can tailor planting plans which are non-toxic, bee, butterfly and wild life friendly and above all beautiful through each season.

Even if you have a small budget, it is worth having a professional garden design as it can save you money and avoid costly mistakes.

Landscaping

In order to send your design out to tender, we take all the construction drawings, planting plans and material specifications and compile them to create your Garden Design Portfolio.

This Garden Design Portfolio is submitted to contractors, who then provide estimates for the build.

Once the estimates are received we will guide you through the process of engaging your chosen contractor and organising dates for the build.

Should you wish, we can also Project Manage the whole process for you.
